Spring is in the air and May is looking like a busy month with AAF, NY Photo Festival and gallery openings around town.
Tuesday May 4th: There’s an opening at Soho Photo that I’d like to go to, Urban Life by Rebecca Lepkoff, who is in her 90’s, and has been photographing in NY since the 30’s. I hope we can get the chance to pop in and chat with her.
Marilyn Fish-Glynn’s will be exhibiting Elders which interests me a lot. I met Marilyn when Jene was a member of Soho Photo and she’s quite an accomplished photographer belonging to several photo groups.
Soho Photo reception from 6 – 8pm
15 White Street – NYC
Thursday May 6 – 9th: Affordable Art Fair NYC is happening . We are going to miss this one but please stop by Emmanuel Fremin Gallery’s booth. There should be plenty to see and art to purchase at affordable prices.
7 West 34th St (near 5th Ave)
Friday May 7th: Burlington Vermont. We are heading upon Wednesday to hang Jene’s prints. Maybe Jene will mention this on his Fuzzypictures blog
Another print of his sold at Ward-Nasse Gallery – 178Prince Street. YAY Feel free to stop there anytime you are in the village.
May 12 – 16th: NY Photo Festival in Brooklyn. Jene is volunteering his time again this year. And we’ve both submitted images for the juried competition. I submitted images of Carmen – “A scar is just a line drawn across a body” showing that a beautiful woman is still as sensual and beautiful after breasts cancer strikes and the mastectomy is the outcome. I hope to continue photographing Carmen, she recently had implants and I am looking forward to working with her again. Her upbeat attitude amazes me.
So much to do, so little time to do it in…. So get out there and mingle with the artists and art lovers.
