PDN’s Photo Expo Oct 28-30

This year Jene Youtt and I will miss the pdn Photo Expo at the Javits Center in NYC.  Oct 28 – 30th.  It is a great place to find information about the latest equipment and technology with seminars on location lighting, digital workflows w/Adobe’s Lightroom 3, digital video basics, experimental style – new approach to wedding photography, how to get work from ad agencies, grant writings and so much more.  It was also a chance for us to hang out with a fellow photographer Jack Cutler, sharing a few laughs at his booth with drinks and dinner afterward.

But this year, Jene and I are heading west by train.  Something neither of us had ever done before, another Mary & Jene great adventure.   I guess one can call it a pre-honeymoon trip.  We had an “intent ceremony” in Sept and professed our love in the presence of family and a few dear friends which was photo documented by Vlad Kenner.  A special day which will be cherished forever.

The train travel from NYC to Chicago (Lake Shore Limited)  will take us up the Hudson to Buffalo and then west to Chicago.  We change trains in Chicago,  (The California Zephyr) to the San Francisco area.  Making stops along the way where we will spend 2 nights in and around the Rocky Mt National Park.  Then its off to Reno where we will visit with my friends before boarding the Zephyr again to SF area.  An overnight stay in Emeryville, before heading north to our final destination of Mendocino, CA.  for a week of with Denise and Ken, site seeing, R&R, wine tasting and a side trip to Yosemite Park.   The return trip will be by air.

We will be married in November by  friend and photographer Denise DeLuise in a private ceremony.

Coming full circle, partners in love, photography and life.

Sounds like a “sound” idea and fun at that!
Train travel has always been a very romantic mode of transportation.
