January gallery openings

My previous posts mentioned a few gallery openings and there are more…

Thursday 1/6 –  Bruce Silverstein Gallery , 535 West 24th St, NYC   Todd Hido’s Fragmented Narratives

Opening reception – 6- 8 pm  – The exhibit runs Jan 6 thru Feb. 12th

Thursday 1/6  A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery.  NY Gallery Building, 24 West 57th Strreet Suite 605.  Marina Reiter artist is part of the 31st Anniversary exhibit.  Jene and I met Marina last year when she was a part of an exhibit in DUMBO.

Opening reception – 5:30 – 7:30pm.  The exhibit runs Jan. 4th thru the 29th

Thursday 1/6 curator Susanne Altmann’s talk starts a 5pm.    “A woman’s work is never done”  followed by the opening reception 6 – 8:30 at the A.I.R. Gallery 111 Front Street, Brooklyn.  The exhibit runs  1/5 – 1/30

Wednesday 1/12 – Juried competition deadline for “Human + Being”  is fast upon us – Center for Fine Art Photography I think I might enter a few images from my “Cambodia – Past and Present Tense” series. It’s all a crap shoot as any artist who submits images to juried exhibits can attest to, however if you are not in it, you can’t win it.  Jene Youtt has a number of his photography prints that have won awards and believe me, he is one of many creative photographers who enter.

Friday 1/14 Opening reception 7 pm  “Into the Void” exhibit at Icosahedron Gallery 606 West 26th St. NYC. Exhibit runs 1/8 – 1/29

Sunday 1/23 Opening reception 2 – 5pm “Art Collections 7” at the George Segal Gallery, Montclair University, 1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ.  The exhibit runs 1/18 – 2/19. This is their annual fundraising event with over 100 artists’ works in various mediums displayed and for sale for the discerning collectors. This juried exhibit is a must see as Jene and I each have a print showing.

Jene and I will be in the city on Thursday, we’re going to The Park Ave. Armory to see Peter Greenaway’s “The Last Supper” in the afternoon and hoping we can pop into the openings before heading back to Jersey.  I’m sure he will critque it later on his blog Fuzzypictures

He’s normally very opinionated as well as verbal and has a different slant on things than me.  So much to do, so little time to do it in.  So get out there and add a little culture to your lives.
