MoMA is for lovers… You can enjoy Tours for Two with wine and petite treats. Private group tours after the museum has closed to the public. I didn’t know this but you can even send an artful eCard. Check it out.
Strolling hand in hand, viewing masterpieces at any museum is romantic and brings fond memories…. Ahhhhhhh Paris, Rome, Venice, Florence, Lucca, and yes New York. Hours upon hours spent gazing at everything from renaissance, impressionist, to modern/ abstracts. Somehow I feel alone in the midst of the crowd. The quiet whispers that surround me makes me feel isolated in a nice way.
If you are in need of gift ideas, head over to Barking Lizards in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Beautiful handcrafted fine art jewelry from local, national and international artisans including some fine pieces by owner Wanda Correa. Unique, one of a kind pieces can be found prices ranging from what I consider reasonable to high. Click on the link for gallery hours and address.
Another wonderful gift that shares the love is to go to One Meaning.com 10 % of all jewelry sales goes to their Charity of the Month. This month it’s Camp Sunshine. A camp for children with life threatening illnesses and their families where they can relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of being a kid.
You can find romantic restaurants on About.com. One that they mention is a tapas bar with flamenco dancers on Wednesday evenings. N33 Crosby. The place is small and gets crowded but it’s something different to do. We went 2 years ago and vowed to get back there again. Time slips by almost unnoticed.
If sitting in a small, dimly lit night club where sultry music stirs up feelings is what you are looking for. Click HERE for some listings of who’s performing where.
With Valentine’s Day falling on a Monday this year, many people will be celebrating the weekend. Still not sure what to do. Perhaps just build a fire in the fireplace and have a candlelit picnic on the floor with soft music setting the mood. Slow dance. Maybe I’ll bake some heart shaped cookies or hand dip strawberries in chocolate for my sweetheart. I like to celebrate quietly at home but that’s just me.
Today, Jene and I went to the Met to peruse the Stieglitz, Steichen, Strand exhibit (which runs through April 10th). Artful photography, B&W masters. When we were in Paris, we went to Je de Paume Gallery – the Steichen exhibit. It was the most extensive array of one of my favorite photographer’s work that I had seen.
Whatever you plan for the day, start it off with soft kisses and loving whispers.
