Jene and I missed the onslaught of this season’s gallery openings last month because we were traveling the country for nearly the full month of Sept. Taking our own pictures and making memories. I still need to go through the DVDs I’ve burned making my selects. They may not be Ansel Adams photos but they are worth a lot to me because we were there. Who knows maybe some will make their way into a gallery or hang on a collector’s wall after I’m long gone.
The invitations for art functions for October Gallery openings are coming in fast and furious. So mark your calendars…
Sorry I already missed a few openings that took place yesterday but the exhibits run through the end of the month:
Soho Photo Gallery 15 White Street, NYC
A.I.R. Gallery 111 Front Street, DUMBO – Brooklyn
One of my favorite places to buy fine art pieces as gifts or gifts for myself and where a number of my photos have exhibited is
Barking Lizards Art/Design Gallery – 231 Bedford Ave, Williansburg section of Brooklyn. Always a great place to peruse.
Thurs: Oct 13th – Bruce Silverstein/20
529 West 20th St, NYC
Larry Silver: NEW VISION runs 10/13 – 11/19
Wed: Oct 19th 6:30pm The NY PhotoGroup Salon presents the works of
Dirk Anschutz, Michael Morrison, Harvey Stein, Tomaas and Howard Schatz ($10 admission covers the cost of renting the gallery for the evening)
at Soho Photo Gallery
15 White St. NYC
But if you are just looking – one of our favorite places to go is to Christies Auction – Rockefeller Plaza – a lot of the art pieces are from private collections and some are not normally seen by the public. Unlike some museums, the viewing is always free and open to the public. Click on the link above for a schedule of viewing dates.
Here’s a link to ArtNews with the latest on emerging artists around town and some interestings articles.
As I’ve said, I still have so many images of my own to go through that it’s hard to drag myself away from my computer. Here’s a couple images of my own starry night – Shenendoah, Valley, Blue Ridge Mountains.
Oh what a magical night.
