As an artist, I have always had to wrap my framed prints for transport to various galleries or for buyers. Bubblewrap was the method of choice. I have tons (well maybe not tons – rolls) of this stuff in my basement. I ingeniously made sleeves for my 20×24″ framed pieces. Much neater than pieces of overlapped wrap, taped together and then ripped apart to open. Well now I don’t have to go through that bother nor the fear of the tape coming apart as I squeeze the corners of the frame into this makeshift bag, a new product has come along and makes it so much easier.
bags blend the best practices of the art, building insulation and shipping industries. Providing 5x the protection of other bags, ArtStrong bags are made with 2 layers of polyethylene bubbles, shock-absorbing foam, brushed neo-technological fabric and all surrounded by a metallized film. The edges are bound in their signature orange twill tape creating the most durable bags in the marketplace. These bags are available in 15 standard sizes from 18 x 20″ to 65 x 70″ and range from $30 to $150 retail.
The ArtStrong bags were developed out of need. Partners Mary Nguyen and Emmanuel Fremin of Emmanuel Fremin Gallery have painstakingly wrapped valued works of art for his clients in layers of foam, bubblewrap, tape, brown paper, cardboard for safe travel. Now art can quickly slip into the ArtStrong Bag and Emmanuel can send his clients out the door knowing that their collectable art is well protected without all the fuss.
To learn more about the bags which will launch at the Red Dot Miami Art Fair on November 29th. please visit the Website: ArtStrongBags.com. One of the things I like best about this new product is that it will help shrink the carbon footprint. These bags are reusable and won’t find their way into landfills the way bubblewrap quickly does.
On a personal note, you can’t help but love the entrepreneurial couple. I met Emmanuel in July of 2009 when he posed for me. He is also an international fashion model and I thought he would be too high end for my art when I saw his portfolio. This handsome Frenchman flashed a warm, easy smile that could light up a room, and I knew that we would cross paths again in the name of art. He loves the art world and is immersed in it on a number of levels. He told us that his gallery would be opening soon in a new location and said he would email us. Jene and I went to the opening where we met the beautiful Mary Nguyen. An extraordinary couple, blending beauty and brains… They are savvy and business minded. Art, style, sophistication are at the center of everything they do.
The two of them work the circuit of art fairs around the country. Emmanuel Fremin Gallery represents some of the finest international artist of our times. Together, they live, laugh and love. They are a hard working couple that seems to know how to get the most out of life. And they’ve traveled enough throughout the world to be touched by the people.
This new venture of theirs – ArtStrong is a NY based company, with all production done in the US. They have their sites and hearts set on giving back. The opening reception of Art Now Fair at the Catalina Hotel on Thursday, December 1st will benefit the Diakonos International Orphanage. ArtStong is also partnering with GEMS. . So if you are a gallery looking for an easy way to protect a client’s investment you should stop by ArtStong’s showroom/retail store on 547 West 27th Street, in the heart of New York’s Chelsea Art District.

And for those who are not snowbirds and find themselves in Manhattan – a must on the to-do list is the opening reception of Emmanuel Fremin Gallery on December 15th for the Art of Beauty Experience from 6- 10pm featuring a special performance by Shontelle and much more. The Art of Beauty Experience will be on display for the public to the mutual benefit of GEMS (www.gems-girls.org) in New York and the Diakonos Orphanage (www.diakonosintl.org) in Carrefour, Haiti. Mary said it was such a honor and pleasure to team up with friend, Monica Watkins for The Art of Beauty Experience auction.
Monica, founder of Art in Motion and famed celebrity make-up artist Leora Edut understand that beauty and fashion can play an important role in helping young women and children realize their worth and self esteem through the personal expression of art. Monica happens to know a lot about beauty, she’s a stunning Ford Model and activist. Beauty starts from within… Proceeds from the sale of the art from this show/event will benefit both GEMS and Diakonos Orphanage. So come out to support these 2 very worthy causes.
